The Story

Peaberries are a natural mutation where only one seed develops inside the coffee cherry instead of the usual two, creating a small, round bean that roasts more evenly and concentrates flavor. Ours come from smallholder farms on the southern slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, where Bourbon and Kent varieties grow in the shadow of Africa's tallest peak. Hand-sorted to isolate true peaberries (only 5-10% of any harvest), then washed and dried on raised beds in the cool mountain air. The cup is vivid and electric—black currant intensity, Meyer lemon brightness, and a complex, winey depth that reminds you great coffee is, after all, a fruit.
