The Story

Rwanda's coffee industry has been transformed over the past two decades, and lots like this show why. Grown by members of the Buf Coffee cooperative near Lake Kivu, these Bourbon trees sit at nearly 2,000 meters in rich volcanic soil. Every cherry is hand-sorted for ripeness before going through a meticulous 18-hour fermentation and channel-wash process. The resulting cup has a silky, almost creamy body unusual for a washed African coffee, with bright cranberry and pomegranate acidity, a caramel sweetness that deepens as it cools, and a fleeting rose-petal floral note. Certified organic and Rainforest Alliance verified.
