The Story

Yemen is where the global coffee trade began, and remarkably little has changed in how it's grown here. Terraced into the steep mountainsides of the Haraz region at altitudes above 2,000 meters, ancient Typica landraces—varieties found nowhere else on Earth—are tended by families who've farmed the same plots for centuries. Water scarcity means cherries are always natural-processed, dried on rooftops in the fierce Arabian sun. The result is untamed and complex: candied date and dried fig sweetness, bitter chocolate depth, cardamom and cinnamon spice, and a winey acidity that harkens back to the port of Mocha's storied past. Our most limited and expensive single origin.
